Canadian MVP

Steve Nash, the Victoria, BC NBA star of the Phoenix Suns, has been named the league's Most Valuable Player. Back on February 1, I wrote,
Steve Nash...is hands down the MVP. I don't think anyone is having a bigger impact on their team with the possible exception of Shaq.
That pretty much sums up how I feel about it today. The right choice was made.
I'm hoping that his rise from humble basketball beginnings inspires kids all over this country to try hard and let their dreams come true. Nash is proof that you don't have to be the best player from the moment you pick up a ball. But if you stick at it and commit yourself to improving every year (even when you have made it to the pros) you just might end up being the best.

Life (and death) lessons

The new hamster we brought home died through the night last week. Apparently a victim of "Wet Tail". Many tears were shed by my daughter and it is very hard to explain that even though it was her hamster and she was caring for it, she didn't have anything to do with it's death.

So we have a new hamster. A dwarf hamster she has named "Mucky Snowball" or just plain "Mucky". This thing is a little dynamo. It is super active and very entertaining. They are fascinating little creatures even if they are rodents.
