The Free Man is Back

Well my inner brat won out yesterday. I bought Half-life 2 in all it's glory. So far it is terrific. I have only played the first three chapters but I am very impressed. The environment is almost totally interactive allowing you to manipulate almost everything you can touch. The graphics are stunning, even on my one-generation-removed Nvidia Ti4400. My CPU is slower than what is recommended but so far I haven't experienced any problems apart from some long load times between chapter sections.

The package I bought was through the Steam delivery system. The process was very convenient and straight forward. It is a little weird buying software and not having something tangible to hold (Steam lets you download the software, you don't get a CD or DVD). But you do get a confirmation number and so long as you provide a real email address you shouldn't have any problems. If I get a new computer I can install steam and have the game re-delivered to me using the email address I supplied.

I will be sure to report back when I get further in the game. It may take a while as I am pretty busy with other things right now. A game like this is best played when you can play for a decent stretch so that you can become immersed into the game environment.
